Lindsay Lohan, now soaked in tarnished glamor like the Amanda Bynes' and the Britney Spears' of Tinseltown, started her career on a high note...and proceeded to stay high. Now, the redhead's tabloid trials are more entertaining than most of her movies - which says as much about us as it does about her. She's barely been able to keep a steady job since it all went sideways - not to mention the car crash, the ankle monitor, the rehab, the assault, the numerous arrests, and the prison sentence...
But recently, Lindsay Lohan has claimed that she was supposed to be cast in a lead role in The Avengers, and she still seems to be holding a grudge against the actress who snagged the role instead of her.
Giving us all some news to Marvel at, the renownedly troubled Mean Girls actress revealed during the latest episode of her own docu-series, Lindsay, that her manager looked into finding her a part in Joss Whedon's blockbuster comic book movie adaptation. He did, and she felt really good about getting it, but in the end the role she wanted went to "an unknown".
If I don't work in a film, he passes it to Vanessa Hudgens; he passes it one of his other clients... Every day I'm not on a film set, I'm wasting my talent because that's what I was born, and live, to do.
While Lohan didn't reveal who that "unknown" is, there aren't a huge number of options. Scarlett Johansson and Gwyneth Paltrow are both in The Avengers, but are hardly "unknowns". The only other major female role is Maria Hill, played by Cobie Smulders. Unless Lohan was talking about an unnamed NASA scientist played by Tina Benko (not quite a leading role), it looks as though Smulders is the one she's mad at.
On my watch, Lohan's now on her fourth release from rehab, and she's made celebrating her release with a bottle of bubbly a bit of a regrettable ritual in the past. It's early days, but perhaps if Lindsay were to score herself a role in a Hollywood blockbuster she might finally be able to get her life - and career - back on track. No Hollywood career is ever really over (looking at you, RDJ!) and Lindsay is certainly still young enough to turn hers around.
But would you have wanted to see the red-headed star in Joss Whedon's The Avengers? Or would that have been the worst idea EVER? Let me know what you think in the comment section below!
