So it looks like that Scream TV show is really going ahead. MTV will adapt Wes Craven's game changing mega-bucks slasher franchise for the small screen with Craven allegedly in talks to direct the pilot with shooting scheduled to begin this summer.

Plot details are beginning to emerge as Bloody-Disgusting reports:

Our source explains that the “rules” of slasher movies is at the center of this new series, as it has been for the franchise. The pilot explores a YouTube video that has gone viral and causes problems for the protagonist, Audrey, who is caught in the middle of murder and the town’s troubled past.

The site goes on to give a run-down of what we might expect from the four main characters.

Harper Duval: “who’s a little too introverted and intellectual to be a social butterfly”
Audrey Jesen: “the bi-curious daughter of a Lutheran pastor”
Noah Foster: “creative, brilliant and tech-savvy enough to be the next Steve Jobs.”
Margaret “Maggie” Duval: “a grown-up science geek who plays down her beauty.”

MTV's original output hasn't exactly been setting the world alight in recent years but If Craven does sign on there might be some promise here. Noah and Harper certainly sound a bit familiar but who do you think will be the first to go? Let us know in the comments below.

Scream will shoot sometime this summer.

Will you be tuning in for this?
