Best known for his role as Daryl Dixon in AMC's The Walking Dead, Norman Reedus has joined the increasingly classy looking cast of Australian director John Hillcoat's upcoming heist film Triple Nine. The plot, as Deadline reports, is:

a Matt Cook scripted thriller, in which a crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist. The only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for “officer down.” Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action-packed finale filled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.

In a remarkable ensemble cast Reedus will join Kate Winslet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, recently cast Superwoman Gal Gadot and Captain America's new best pal Anthony Mackie. Following international acclaim for The Proposition and his faithful adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's The Road, John Hillcoat took his first tumble as director with Lawless in 2012 so let's hope this solid looking effort is a return to form.

Triple Nine is set to open sometime next year.
