EDIT: Franco has since confessed to the events below. See his response here: http://www.nbcnewyork.com/entertainment/entertainment-news/James_Franco_Admits_to_Flirting_With_17-Year-Old-I_Used_Bad_Judgment_and_I_Learned_My_Lesson_-253898291.html

2nd Edit: Some are saying it's a hoax. After what Mr. Phoenix did with a rap career, it wouldn't surprise me either.

James Franco has been doing a play in New York based on Of Mice of Men. In usual Franco style, he took selfies with people, asking them to tag him. In this case, a 17-year-old Irish girl tagged him and claims the following ensued.

There are a few possibilities here:

-Someone was impersonating Franco quite well. Perhaps a look-alike who saw the tag and decided to play an April Fool's prank.

-The girl has photoshop, used a fake text creator and thought it'd be a fun joke to send to her friends.

-Franco tried to "sleep" with her.

Lastly, we need to remember even if Franco did do this, he didn't commit a crime. The age of consent in both New York and Ireland is 17. It's simply a matter of people having an issue with the age gap and a hookup. The better question is what 17-year-old Franco fan wouldn't have at least continued the conversation?

Franco's only reply is his Instagram comment to a picture asking why he likes them young (Picture since removed): "I DON'T! I HOPE PARENTS KEEP THEIR TEENS AWAY FROM ME. Thank you."
