Weta Digital has released yet another stunning visual effects breakdown, and this time the intricately constructed Laketown takes centre stage.
The mysterious layers of [The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug](movie:512310) 's construction are peeled back to reveal vast amounts of variants, and atmospheric touches that bring the movie to life.
Digital animators reveal that there are over 1500 visible buildings in the panoramic shots of Laketown constructed using 50 highly detailed models.

Seeing all of the work that goes into the tiniest details really makes me want to rewatch the movie so that I can appreciate the small touches of craftsmanship more.
