This new trailer for Gareth Edward’s Godzilla manages to be a pretty gargantuan, impressive affair - which makes it even more impressive as it comes right after an avalanche of TV spots. But seeing Godzilla trigger tsunamis, eerily be illuminated by tiny flares in the night and cause Bryan Cranston to emote mightily simply makes a good trailer.

It might be marketing overkill, but so far it's a pretty pleasant overkill.

My only minor quibbles are that the trailer - like at least one of those TV spots - unnecessarily makes it clear what happens to one of the major characters in the movie. Also some of the CGI looks like, well, CGI.

But watch for yourself:

Godzilla will roar from the big screen come May 16.

Are you excited to see Godzilla on the big screen (again)?
