Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D didn't get a great reception from fans when it first came out, but could this be the start of a new direction for the show?

The show, which follows the working of the clandestine S.H.I.E.L.D agency as they operate in the shadows of the Marvel universe, most recently has had to adapt to the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

And it looks like this will have grave consequences for the organisation - a new promotional image seems to have a darker mood than it did previously, and shows the organisations famous S.H.I.E.L.D logo smashed behind them.

And this it is not the only news coming out of this show. Samuel L. Jackson, who plays Nick Joseph Fury in Captain America, also recently confirmed that he will return to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D for the season finale.

So what do you think? Is this the start of Agents finally coming close to the sort of quality that has been shown in the Marvel movies, or are they still way behind? Write in with your thoughts in the comments below.
