Will The Vampire Diaries' blue-eyed bartender Matt Donovan (Zach Roerig) finally find someone to snuggle up on cold Mystic Falls nights with in Season 6 of the CW show? We never thought this would happen, but: yes. After putting the feelers out, we've discovered that Matt will most likely be getting some sweet, long-awaited lovin' in the upcoming Vampire Diaries season.
The show's executive producer Caroline Dries responded to the question of whether Matt will ever find love. "Poor Matt," she laughed. But Dries then added: "Yes, I think so" before revealing:
It's hard to give him these overarching love storylines because we're just like, what's the genre? Genre, genre, genre. It's hard because we have like 40 hundred thousand characters on the show, you know? To give them all very interesting, dynamic story lines is hard but we have something planned for him.
Poor Matt hasn't had the best run in the romance department. Elena chucked him. Caroline turned into a vamp, Rebekah got her own spin-off, and Nadia kicked the bucket before they could properly get together... All I'm saying is this: Matt's next love interest better be the real deal!
Who do you think Matt will fall for? Will it be someone already in The Vampire Diaries, or perhaps a new character? Hit me up with your theories in the comment section below!
The Vampire Diaries Season 6 airs Thursday nights at 8 P.M. ET on The CW.
