Did you feel the final cut of last year's Desolation of Smaug looked oddly different to the trailer which proceeded it? If so, well good for you, it seems you weren't the only one. A tireless fan by the name of Mukankakuna has scrawled through the recently released Blu-ray and discovered that some major stylistic adjustments were indeed made.

Gone are the cold metallic blues of the trailer and in their place is a somewhat warmer, sepia tinted feel; at some points looking more pleasant but then at others, more gloomy. On some occasions the whole scenery seems to shift and at one point even an Orc too. Take a look below:

Thrilling stuff.

It's a bit of a strange one but the finished product does seem a touch more in tune with the series as a whole. How do you feel about it? Was the feedback on the trailer so bad? Is the resulting product any better? Did Jackson buckle during final cut? Let us know below.
