Filming is already underway on the Point Break remake - and producer Broderick Johnson has revealed that almost every detail of the original has been changed.

Asked at a recent press day whether the script will follow the original film, Johnson's response was good news for fans who'd rather see the original left alone:

The script only shares in common with the original the characters and the nature of the character dynamic between Utah and Bodhi and their relationship. Everything else about the movie is different.

Whilst Johnson did confirm that there would be some surfing involved, he admitted that ¨it is only a subset of the extreme sports that we deal with, including free-climbing, motocross, wing-suiting and so forth.¨

All of which means there is a good chance we'll get to see newly cast Gerard Butler not only try to match Patrick Swayze's iconic take on Bodhi, but tackle an assortment of improbable extreme sports as he does so.

It all admittedly sounds a little bit xXx, the much maligned 2002 Vin Diesel vehicle, but Butler is more than capable of elevating silly action to the realm of actual fun, so there's probably more to look forward to than fear. Unless Butler goes for Swayze's original blonde mop of hair, in which case we should probably all run for the hills screaming.

What do you guys think? Will the new Point Break be a hit, or sink like a surfboard without a swell? And more importantly, should Gerard Butler dye his hair blonde for the part?

Should Gerard Butler dye his hair blonde in Point Break, in honor of Patrick Swayze?
