Following The Bent Bullet's expose of Magneto's involvement in the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, we were compelled to investigate other historical events which may have been influenced by X-men.

X-Men: Days of Future Past proved that the mutants have the power to travel through time. No human activity is safe from their interference...

The Great Fire of London: caused by a mutant?

Known for his hot temper and love of fire power, it's no stretch of the imagination to envisage Pyro setting off the greatest blaze that Britain ever saw. Of course, Pyro can only control fire, not create it - much to his chagrin - but what if he was in a bar fight that got out of hand...?

Bishop - the ultimate X-Men frenemy - has had fringe status in the group to say the least. Time travel is an essential part of his character, having arrived directly from the dystopian future world of the Marvel canon. With his nuclear capabilities, it's possible that Three Mile Island was the result of one of his more villainous episodes.

Plague is one of the X-team with one of those dangerous, unstable gifts. Like Cyclops and Rogue, Plague's abilities have the potential for great harm to come to those around her. Her power to absorb, mutate and release diseases is strong enough to cause a catastrophe like The Great Plague. We can only await her possible arrival in X-Men: Apocalypse in 2016.

He would have blended in seamlessly with the crowds of disgruntled Eastern Bloc heavies.

The Bermuda Triangle: a mystery solved?

The Bermuda Triangle has long baffled the world since a number of planes and ships disappeared without a trace. The X-Men may hold the key to the truth. Blink is able to teleport herself and others instantaneously. As far as Bermuda Theories go, this is certainly not the most unbelievable one out there.

The Allied invasion of Normandy is celebrated as the crux of World War II, but this great victory would not have been possible had adverse weather conditions blown the allied boats off course. Storm, with her complete mastery of the elements, could well have contributed to the Allies' success.

The theft of the Mona Lisa rocked the art world

Despite many attempts at theft and vandalism of the world's most famous portrait, few have succeeded. However, one thief managed to swipe the painting in 1911, adding to the work's notoriety. The perpetrator of the crime was allegedly Vincenzo Peruggia, an employee of the Louvre, but it's not impossible that he had help from speedy stealth wizard Quicksilver for the heist.
