The "sequel prequel" to 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes takes us years into the apocalyptic future, where apes and man battle to achieve world dominion.
So far, the trailers have been minimal, giving us only brief peeks into the world now ruled by Caesar. But we now have a host of new stills to overanalyze and satiate our patience, including shots of humans and apes apparently gearing up for battle and (of course) Gary Oldman.
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth's dominant species.
[Dawn of the Planet of the Apes](movie:322904) opens in theaters July 11.
