The sequel to Disney's magically maniacal and preposterously perfect Alice in Wonderland titled Through the Looking Glass has been reported to have signed a brand new character: one that goes to show that Disney will be taking some creative leeway again, which worked fairly well in my opinion.
Mark Rylance has been reported by The Wrap to be in early negotiations to be playing the father of Johnny Depp's iconic character: the Mad Hatter. The character is named Zanik Hightopp, revealing that "Hatter" isn't Mad Hatter's last name, and will have brightly colored hair that bushes out from underneath his top hat alike his son.
This news also follows reports earlier this year that Baron Cohen has been cast as a villain simply known as Time, while Bellatrix LaStrange actress Bonham Carter will be reprising her villainly role as the Red Queen of Hearts.
The talents behind Mad Hatter and Alice, Johnny Depp and Mia Wasikowska, will be returning for the film as well under the direction of Muppets director James Robin.
Through the Looking Glass hits theaters on May 27th, 2016
Could Zanik have a major role in the film?
