Many attribute Dreamworks with having offered the first genuine alternative to planet Pixar when they released How to Train Your Dragon back in 2010. Peter Hastings and Chris Sanders' film was a critical and commercial smash so no one was too shocked when a sequel was announced the following year.

We've already been given a few reasons to get excited but so far they've been more about Jay Baruchel's Hiccup and his pal Toothless having a laugh, but today we get a fleshed out, full on preview for the anticipated summer release. Feast your eyes below:

Sequels always feel obliged to push things to the brink- up the scale, up the action, up the emotion- and How to Train Your Dragon 2 seems happy to do just that. Cate Blanchett is in there as Hiccup's long lost mum, the battles look to be playing out on an enormous scale and, naturally, there's bucket loads more dragons.

Obama apparently showed up to check out the animation process. Good for him, it really does look majestic

Will you be soaring to your local multiplex for this one? Let us know below.
