As Rick and the gang bed down for the Season break locked in train car A, us fans are left reeling with the prospect of a Walking Dead-sized hole in our lives every Sunday evening (Monday for us UK fans!).
So the dust has settled post Season 4 finale and we have fast come to the dilemma: What are we going to do with our lives until The Walking Dead returns? While watching fans Twitter and pine over the lack of their favourite Sheriff's hat and gang, I have come to the decision that I am going to do something productive over the Summer. Dedicated fans will be heading out to meet their favourite cast members at Conventions, but what can the rest of us do if that isn't possible?
Here are my ideas and suggestions on how ANY fan can fill their Season break, regardless of budget and location. ALL The Walking Dead themed course!
Once a month I will publish MY list of suggestions to help you fill your time until [The Walking Dead](series:201193) returns once again to our screens. Please vote for your favorite suggestion and I will post the ULTIMATE Top 5 most popular things to do during the Season break... all voted by you of course! So enjoy this months ideas, please vote for your favourite and leave comments :-)
Go on! Go full Shane!
1. Grow your own Terminus Sunflowers
It's time to start sowing your Sunflowers! (Sow: March-May)
2. Take up a sport
- Hit the gym, during the Zombie Apocalypse you need to stay in shape.
- Play some golf, join a club. Go all Governor and play crazy golf wearing an eye patch (See what I did there? Lol).
- Join a local Archery club.
- Learn to ride a horse.
ALL OF THE ABOVE VERY VALUABLE SKILLS DURING A ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE.
3. Play Hide and Seek
Enjoy your family, spend quality time with them, play games, laugh and smile!
4. Dust of the old Barbecue, Summer's coming!
(You know where this is heading!)
5. Do a spot of gardening
Season 4 introduced us to Farmer Rick. Farmer Rick, unlike Cop Rick or the Ricktator before him favored toiling the land. After the events of A, it's safe to say Rick's days of naming pigs and planting veggies are long gone. However, you can carry on Hershel's good lessons by:
- Tending your garden, planting veggies while reminiscing.
- Visit a farm, enjoy their petting zoo.
- Decorate your garden with Zombie ornaments to scare away intruders and unwanted salespeople! (OddityMall, Ebay)
- Grow a Zombie plant!
The mimosa pudica plant aka "Zombie Plant" is a sensitive plant species that folds in it's leaves when it is touched. Similar to the plants from Avatar, as a defense mechanism the zombie plant will creep inwards or fold in as a defense mechanism when it feels like it is being threatened. (OddityMall)
6. Start reading the comics, where it all started
An epidemic of apocalyptic proportions has swept the globe, causing the dead to rise and feed on the living. In a matter of months, society has crumbled: There is no government, no grocery stores, no mail delivery, no cable TV. Rick Grimes finds himself one of the few survivors in this terrifying future. A couple months ago he was a small town cop who had never fired a shot and only ever saw one dead body. Separated from his family, he must now sort through all the death and confusion to try and find his wife and son. In a world ruled by the dead, we are forced to finally begin living. I must say that after A and Rick's vampire impression, I am intrigued as to what the actual differences are between The Walking Dead comics and the TV show.
Why not use the break to discover The Walking Dead comics? They are after all where the Walking Dead began over 10 years ago!
7. Join a Support Group
What started as a few friends texting each other during commercial breaks evolved into a fan show produced at a local cable TV station. A facebook page, twitter feed and a YouTube rebroadcast of their show has taken the WDSG international. Fans from the West Coast of the US and as far as Germany regularly chat with all three hosts during the week waiting for the next episode. (WDSG)
8. Grow a Tribute Mullet, or Abraham Tribute facial hair!
This one needs a little bit more time so get a head start now on your Tribute to TWD's newest characters Eugene (Josh McDermitt) and Abraham (Michael Cudlitz)! Stay tuned for Rosita. After all, they're gonna save the world!
Abraham: "Eugene, I mustache you a question."
Eugene: "Let me mullet over."
9. LAST BUT BY NO MEANS LEAST ! Play telltale's The Walking Dead!
This game needs no introduction! Start off with Season 1.
If you LOVE telltale's The Walking Dead why not check out Clementine's FIRST EVER INTERVIEW (courtesy of the lovely Melissa Hutchinson of course!) in the UndeadRandy Podcast Premier!
