Reception to the [Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles](movie:323027) teaser trailer has been mixed. While fans have been anticipating a chance to revisit our turtles in a half-shell on the big screen, news that Michael Bay was attached, that the turtles were originally going to be aliens, and then our first look at the turtles new more-human-like faces all combined for a less than enthusiastic response from the fans.

That being the case, as a fan of the original comics, the cartoons, and the first -keyword first - live-action adaptation, I can't help but be excited with this new take on my favorite ninjas. It looks to capture the dark atmosphere of the comics, but still retains that goofy, tongue-in-cheek personality that popularized the brand in the late-1980s.

I can understand fan apprehension towards this new venture, because we have little more than a teaser to work with, or at least we did! Thanks to the latest TV spot (via IGN) we have some brand new footage with new dialogue and our very first look at everyone's favorite rodent sensei: Master Splinter!

So, what do you think of the new Splinter? Let me know in the comments below, and tell me if the new footage releasing is alleviating your concerns or getting you more excited for the reboot ten years from now!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles releases in the US, August 8th, 2014.
