Chloë Grace Moretz has just been cast in the lead role Cassie Sullivan in the adaptation of Rick Yancey's hit novel 'The 5th Wave'. The plot of the novel the film is based on is as follows:

After the 1st wave, only darkness remains. After the 2nd, only the lucky escape. And after the 3rd, only the unlucky survive. After the 4th wave, only one rule applies: trust no one.

Now, it’s the dawn of the 5th wave, and on a lonely stretch of highway, Cassie runs from Them. The beings who only look human, who roam the countryside killing anyone they see, who have scattered Earth’s last survivors. To stay alone is to stay alive, Cassie believes, until she meets Evan Walker. Beguiling and mysterious, Evan Walker may be Cassie’s only hope for rescuing her brother—or even saving herself. But Cassie must choose: between trust and despair, between defiance and surrender, between life and death. To give up or to get up.

The screenplay for the film will be written by Susannah Grant, who got an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the film 'Erin Brockovich' so it seems like the screenplay is in good hands. The film will be directed by J. Blakeson who is best known for his film 'The Disappearance of Alice Creed', which received a Certified Fresh rating of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, so this film has some huge talent behind it. Chloë Grace Moretz has given many amazing performances as seen in Oscar-winning film 'Hugo', won the Saturn Award (2011) for Best Performance by a Younger Actor, and a kick-ass performance in Kick-Ass. The film will be distributed by Sony Pictures and is produced by Graham King and Tobey Maguire. She is no stranger to the YA-world as she has the the film 'If I Stay' based on the novel by Gayle Foreman set to release August 22nd, 2014.

The source material itself has received very positive reviews. Reviewers have noted that it has broad audience appeal, blurring the lines between young adult and adult fiction, and of genre and mainstream fiction, that it cannot be easily wedged into one genre despite having many of the characteristics of young adult fiction. The New York Times listed it as one of the best young adult books of 2013, and it was a Goodreads finalist for Best Young Adult Fantasy or Science Fiction novel in 2013. [Source:]

The author has started writing the sequel, which is called 'The Infinite Sea', although there is no plot Rick Yancey has stated "More aliens! More mistrust! More betrayal! More explosions and mayhem! Twists, reversals, surprises!" and fans of the book are pretty excited.

It is unknown who will play Evan Walker, the love interest of Cassie, I am not sure if they are romantically involved on the book so let me know, because this is my first article. I have been wanting to read this book for a long time and have not had the chance to pick it up and I can't wait to read it.

How do you feel about Chloë Grace Moretz as Cassie? Who do you think should be cast as Evan? Is this book something you would recommend to someone who hasn't read it, if so then why?

I will keep you up to date on movie news from 'The 5th Wave' and what I think of the book itself.
