It was recently announced that a scene from X-Men: Days of Future Past will be included within the credits of Amazing Spider-Man 2. The two movies are going to be box office rivals, and are owned by two different studios. Why would Sony advertise for 20th Century Fox like this?

My conclusion? It could be happening. We could finally be getting a multi-studio crossover film! The scene is suggested to be completely advertisement for Days of Future Past, which could very much be true. The real question is what will be in the credits for [X-Men: Days Of Future Past](movie:203942)?

Warning: This theory is highly unlikely, but strings together how each of the studios really could combine their movies into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Imagine This

The end of [The Amazing Spider-Man 2](movie:508593). The film ends with "Mr. Parker, we need a word with you." Credits roll.

The end of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Professor Xavier pulls Logan aside and says "Logan, there's someone I think you should meet." He escorts him down a hall and into an empty room with three chairs and a table, and in one chair sits Peter Parker. "Who the H$#% are you?" mutters Logan. "The real question is who is he," says Parker as he gestures to the dark corner of the room. A familiar figure steps into view. "My name is Nick Fury, and I am the director of an organization that does not exist." Credits roll.

How This Could Work Movie-Wise

X-Men: Days of Future Past will introduce the concept of time travel, which within the Marvel Universe opens up hundreds of alternate realities and possible universes. This alone would open up the possibility of the Avengers existing in an alternate universe.

The comic book for [The Avengers: Age Of Ultron](movie:293035) uses the very same concept to defeat Ultron, despite the comic book not being used as the storyline source for Avengers 2. [Thor: The Dark World](movie:206462) also Easter eggs the idea of multiple alternate realities existing on a chalkboard in the film.

How This Could Work Schedule-Wise

Filming for Avengers 2 is happening now. In a month, with the release of X-Men: Days of Future Past and the announcement of the studios working together, Hugh Jackman and Andrew Garfield would fly on set to begin filming for the movie, in which their roles will be small, but mainly to set up their addition to the franchise for [The Avengers 3](movie:738027).

Marvel Studios has already announced they will release the first Avengers movie and the second Avengers movie almost exactly 3 years apart. If Avengers 2 and Avengers 3 are three years apart, then Avengers 3 will hit theaters in 2018.

[The Amazing Spider-Man 3](movie:671279) will be in theaters in 2016, which would give a steady two years before he teams up with Earth's Mightiest Heroes. [Sinister Six](movie:1274281) and [Venom](movie:372411) will be produced after, and producer Matthew Tolmach suggests that May 2018 will be one of these two movies rather than what we thought to be Amazing Spider-Man 4.

[The Fantastic Four 2](movie:1284578) and [Wolverine 3](movie:1166878) are getting their movies in 2017, just in time for [The Fantastic Four](movie:34667) to be invited to the ensemble and for Wolverine to lead into Avengers 3 in 2018. Twentieth Century Fox has announced they will be working on an unnamed film that will hit theaters on July 13, 2018. It is their only announced movie that doesn't have a title.

Is this mystery movie Avengers 3? Will we finally get the HUGE crossover we've been waiting for in Avengers 3? Tell me what you think below!
