Who's hungry for something, anything, Star Wars?!
What's that you say? You're hungry enough to pull the ears off a gundark?
Well, then good news for you! We've got the first set photos out of the Star Wars Episode VII set deep in the Abu Dhabi desert!
I can confirm it is really big, and really round...
News site The National confirms that these photos were taken on the set of the new Star Wars film, and the giant rolling stone is not in fact part of the local church's Easter Sunday Passion play.
...though I still have my doubts.
Needless to say any Star Wars news is good news at this point; considering the dearth of solid information out there, and I'd argue a photo like this could spawn a great deal of speculation for the analytical fan.
Let me expound:
Look at what we have here. It's a gigantic, round, metal object that appears to be solid with a flat bottom and four points on the bottom that extend out or may attach to extensions.
Kind of like this.
Now it's pretty hard to tell without a closer shot, but it certainly seems like a close match, and I have to admit, the thought of seeing Imperial AT-AT Walkers wreaking havoc somewhere other than frigid Hoth gets me all hot and bothered. Oh, the possibilities!
Not to mention the thought of seeing Imperial Walkers in a film set 30 years after Return of the Jedi... let the speculation begin, indeed!
Then again, considering this is set in the desert, some have theorized it is part of the escape pod that R2 and Threepio crashed in the Tatooine desert in A New Hope...
Psh! AT-ATs all the way!
