After the leak of "The Hateful Eight" script in January, it seemed that Tarantino had taken the betrayal to heart and opted to axe the film, instead seeking to publish the script as a book.
“I’m going to publish it [as a book], and that’s it for now. I give it out to six people, and if I can’t trust them to that degree, then I have no desire to make it. I’ll publish it. I’m done. I’ll move on to the next thing. I’ve got 10 more where that came from.”
However, at a reading dubbed “Film Independent Presents the World Premiere of a Staged Reading by Quentin Tarantino: The Hateful Eight.” The enigmatic director seemed to have changed his plans. With 1,200 fans in attendance and an all-star Tarantino alumni featuring Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell, James Parks, Amber Tamblyn, Denis Menochet, James Remar, and Walton Goggins reading the script, Tarantino admitted that:
“I’m working on a second draft and I will do a third draft but we’re reading from the first draft,” ... "The Chapter 5 here will not be the Chapter 5 later, so this will be the only time it is seen ever,”
Hopefully this means we will be seeing another Tarantino masterpiece hitting cinemas in the near future! After the success of Django Unchained, I think I can safely assume that the world is eager to see the Wyoming-set, post-Civil War western.
Are you excited for this project?
