Sinister's Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill confirmed with IGN that the film adaptation of Deus Ex: Human Revolution is "still alive." Unfortunately, the film that was announced earlier in 2012 by CBS Films has yet to enter the pre-production phase.

The realistic cyberpunk film is currently going through rewrites. Derrickson commented, "it's a tricky script to get just right."

Derrickson will direct the film and co-write with Cargill. Roy Lee (Abduction) and Adrian Askarieh (Hitman) will be the film's producers. John P. Middleton will serve as executive-producer.

The film is based on Eidos Montreal's 2011 hit, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Adam Jensen will serve as the main protagonist, an ex-Swat security specialist who must unravel a global conspiracy in the future where human augmentation have triggered technological renaissance.
