For all you Star Wars Expanded Universe fans out there - producer Simon Kinberg has some good news, and some bad news.

On the down side, the Star Wars sequels look set to be largely Expanded Universe free - with Kinberg admitting to IGN only that "it's not off limits - it's certainly inspiring" but that "for the movies, the canon is the canon, and the canon is the six films that exist."

He did, however, acknowledge that Star Wars Rebels, the animated spin off that he is also working on, "will take inspiration from everywhere."

Which, in the context of an interview specifically relating to the Expanded Universe, does suggest that we could see some fan favorites pop up. Is it too much to hope that we could even eventually have Thrawn as an antagonist in the series?

What do you guys think? Will we see any Expanded Universe stuff anywhere in the new Star Wars universe, or is Kinberg just trying to be nice? Let me know below!
