Sean Bean was the face of Game of Thrones when it came out, but unfortunately for him the series killed him off at the end of its first season.
It was a move which shocked fans and increased interest in the show in which, perhaps more than any other, no one is safe.
Bean has something of a knack for getting killed off early in successful projects, too. After all, he played Boromir, the power-hungry/heroic member of the fellowship who died protecting Frodo in the first Lord of the Rings movie.
Well now he has had a chance at revenge. Many fans were delighted to see the impish King Joffrey finally get his comeuppance at the Purple Wedding, when he was killed by poisoning in a murder with perhaps the longest list of suspects ever.
And Sean Bean was as happy as any to see the back of his killer. Watch him here as he reacts to news of Joffrey's death, by swearing at the boy and saying "what can I say? I'm glad he's dead!"
I don't think you would find many people who disagreed with that.
And, given that so many have been axed, knifed and long-sworded now in Game of Thrones, what do you think has been the most shocking death?
