Goodness gracious, Scarlett Johansson might just be getting used to all this off screen work. She picked up best Actress at the Rome film festival last year for lending her voice to Spike Jonze's Her and now Jon Favreau- who first cast her as Black Widow in Iron Man 2- is looking to tap those sultry pipes too.
Oh grow up...
Favreau is looking to hire the actress to voice the python Kaa in his Live Action/CGI Jungle Book remake. She will join a cast which reportedly boasts Idris Elba as the menacing Sher Khan and now possibly 12 Years A Slave's Lupita Nyong'o too, as THR reports:
Nyong’o is in final negotiations to play Rakcha, a mother wolf who adopts Mowgli. Johansson is in earlier stages of talks to voice the character of Kaa, the python who eats other animals by hypnotizing them.
Both seem like excellent choices. Nyong'o's natural, eloquent lilt would make for the perfect wise, motherly tone and Johansson should have little trouble voicing the Ssslithering Sssseductive Sssserpent. Although no word yet on whether she'll be adding that lissssp.
Interestingly (or perhaps not, as the case may be) the name Lupita is a shortened form of Guadalupe which comes from the Arabic and Latin words Guadi and Lupe, or "River" and "Wolf".
How about that, eh...
This seems to be coming together quite nicely. In one of those bizarre Hollywood doppelgänger moments, Andy Serkis is said to be directing his own live action Jungle Book for Warner Bros. too.
What a time to be alive.
