Max Brooks, the author that brought you “The Zombie Survival Guide” and “World War Z” came out with some big news this past week. His latest comic book series from Avatar Press, Extinction Parade, is getting a television adaptation through Legendary Entertainment. The press release confirms that Brooks will be closely involved with the development of series, and will write the Pilot.
“I only brought the idea to one company, Legendary, because they do the kind of quality work of which any writer would be proud.” stated Brooks. “Max Brooks is a visionary with an incredible ability to tell stories that deliver a fresh approach to the horrors that haunt our nightmares. His work on Extinction Parade has been a stunningly rich tapestry of cultures in decline and a biting indictment of the perils of privilege. It will make the perfect television series to appeal to fans who have until now settled for thinly veiled soap operas parading as horror,” said William Christensen, Publisher of Avatar Press.
Extinction Parade pits vampires against zombies in the ultimate undead war. While the concept may seem a little wonky, fans of the books will know that Brooks takes his zombies very seriously, and it's nice to see that Brooks learned his lesson from the conversion of his novel World War Z onto the big screen.
The series tracks the decline of the ruling Vampire class as they fail to respond to a zombie virus that threatens to wipe out their food source, humanity.
