On January 31st 2014, comic book fans around the world were met with one of the biggest shocks in comic book movie casting history. The role of Superman's nemesis Lex Luthor was to be portrayed not by Bryan Cranston, Stanley Tucci, Denzel Washington or even Bradley Cooper. No. Instead we were informed that the new Lex Luthor who will perhaps become one of the big bads for the DC Cinematic Universe, was to played by none other than The Social Network star Jesse Eisenberg.
Fans had mixed reactions, however most of them had the same initial reaction, and this including myself, was 'Whaaaaaaaaaaa?'. I never had this with Ben Affleck though, I had to really think about this casting decision. Thankfully when that was over, I am positive that Jesse will deliver in this role. So without further wait, here are 5 reasons why Jesse Eisenberg could be the perfect Lex Luthor for the DC Cinematic Universe.
5. He is a good actor.
This is one of the most obvious reasons, Jesse Eisenberg is one of the best actors in show business today, and he is a household name now. He has been nominated for an Oscar for his turn as the Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in David Fincher's The Social Network. He also played quite a cocky character in Now You See Me last year. Isn't that one of the key features of the Lex Luthor character?
Snyder is known for casting good talent in his movies, Ben Affleck, Gerard Butler, Michael Shannon, Amy Adams, Jackie Earle Haley, the list goes on. Jesse is a newcomer to Zack's movies, and like with Heath Ledger, he could pull off a similar trait with his version of Lex Luthor.
4. It's a new kind of Lex without it being unfaithful.
Lex Luthor in media has been portrayed as many different things, from a businessman to a mad scientist to a bumbling fool sometimes. His intelligence however
