When you think Boba Fett, what comes to mind? Bounty Hunter - definitely. Horrible death in a Sarlacc pit - depends on who you ask. Awesome suit - absolutely. Hero? Not so much.

If rumors coming out of Disney are to be believed, however, the legendary Mandalorian's spin-off movie could pitch him as being very much on the heroic side of anti-hero. Disney are reportedly having trouble with making the character suitably dark, whilst also an accessible leading man, which may lead to a more heroic Fett.

Makingstarwars.net quotes a Disney insider as saying:

"Lucasfilm wants Boba Fett to remain menacing and scary but we have to make him the hero of the film and it is a real challenge."

All of which could turn out to be much ado about nothing - the popularity of Judge Dredd, Wolverine and even Han Solo proves that a darker hero is possible, and Loki hasn't exactly struggled within the Marvel Universe for being a villain - but would certainly fit with a lot of fears regarding the 'Disney-fication' of the much loved Star Wars franchise. Should we expect to see Boba Fett hogtied to a more moral bounty hunting lifestyle than we've been expecting?
