The original title of the final Hobbit film, The Hobbit: There And Back Again, may have been accurate to the lore of the franchise, but it doesn't sound terrible exciting, does it?
That's probably why Warner Bros recently retitled the final film in the trilogy to [The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies](movie:512312). Now, that's more like it! One battle with FIVE armies. That's much more exciting. According to Thorin Oakenshield actor, Richard Armitage, the battle is indeed a very enthralling moment. In an interview with HitFix he explained:
It's going to be quite a nostalgic event I think. It's going to be 15 years of seeing Middle Earth on the big screen, the culmination of Peter Jackson's life's work. I think the Battle of the Five Armies is something that I can not wait to see. There's a couple of big surprises. [But] the one thing I'm really looking forward to is seeing the Battle of the Five Armies. I think it will be probably quite a cinematic event.
Anyone who's read the book will know the Battle of the Five Armies is a rather climatic close to The Hobbit novel. The battle sees Elves, Dwarves, Men, Goblins and Wargs all duke it out on the slopes of the Lonely Mountain. It's certainly going to be a chaotic affair, which if done properly could certainly rival the battles of Minas Tirith and Helm's Deep.
