Hey everyone, welcome to my article. Today i'm going to list my top 5 favorite directors, it wasn't easy, but this is my list. As a film buff and a guy working hard to be a director, I felt I should share with you my top 5, so here... we... go!
5: Zack Snyder
With films such as 300, Sucker Punch, Dawn of the Dead, Watchmen, Man of Steel, soon to be Man of Steel 2 and just announced Justice League, he has to be on this list. His visual effects are out of this world(literally, did you watch Man of Steel), in my personal opinion, I think all his movies are brilliant. Zack Snyder, certainly a director to look up to.
4: Tim Burton
The man who never combs his hair. Tim Burton, oh Tim Burton, what a director he is, has the most unique imagination on the planet and his movies prove it. He has Edward Scissorhands (one of my all time favorite), Beetlejuice, Batman, Batman Returns, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Nightmare Before Christmas, Corpse Bride, along with others. He has a unique and dark approach, he frequently works with Johnny Depp and Michael Keaton and will be working with Keaton yet again for Beetlejuice 2. Fantastic director, go watch his movies, they're amazing.
3: James Cameron
Certainly a director known for his visuals, his movies such as Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Titanic (although a movie I don't like, I think I just don't care for the 2 main characters), Avatar, Aliens and soon to be the next 3 sequels to Avatar. He voices his opinion, but when he gets directing, he is amazing and he is one to be recognized.
2: Peter Jackson
He is the fantasy director, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Hobbit trilogy, King Kong, TinTin, some others, he has a certain approach to movies that I love. He's a great director, love his work on everything Lord of the Rings and Hobbit, I cant wait for the 3rd Hobbit.
1: Christopher Nolan
The easy choice, he is my inspiration, my movie God. Christopher Nolan is the director I want to be, he doesn't like CGI, he rather build big sets than have his actors be in front of a green screen and its shown in The Dark Knight Trilogy. With films such as Memento, The Prestige, Inception, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Dark Knight Rises, and a movie i'm very excited for, Interstellar. Amazing movies, he makes unique movies and unique stories, he uses the a lot of the same actors, which I think is pretty smart, he is just pure awesome.
Thank you for reading, there are many directors I would have liked to have added such as Joss Whedon, J.J. Abrams, George Lucas and Steven Spieberg. Now there are many other great directors but I either haven't seen any of their movies or enough of them, Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, Marc Webb, and Ben Affleck. But what did you think? Comment below your favorite director.
