Although we may be waiting patiently for "Star Wars Day" on May 4 (you know, May the Fourth be with you.. Geddit!?) to arrive with what presumably will be the big reveal for the cast of J.J. Abrams' space opera Star Wars: Episode VII, more pieces of the Star Wars puzzle continue to fall into place anyway.
Excitement has been mounting as recent reports reveal that Harrison Ford's role is no mere cameo. We're now hearing reports that Ford's Han Solo is set to take a "gigantic role in the first of the next three films", which are also set to see Mark Hamill and Carrie Fischer reprise their roles as Leia and Luke, and rumors of Peter Mayhew's Chewbacca also returning.
But what of new characters and cast members? The other latest names to have surfaced in connection with the movie are Inside Llewyn Davies thesp Oscar Isaac and Girls star Adam Driver. Driver is currently rumored to be the movie's primary villain and - as bit of an unexpected revelation - Isaac is also reportedly "in line for a major role." That would reunite him with Driver, who also appeared in the Coen Brothers' latest film.
I still suspect that first movie in the new trilogy will focus more on the familiar faces while introducing us to a new generation that will take center stage in future movies... Ideas? Either way, a lot of Han Solo is unlikely to be seen as a bad thing.
These cast stirrings have, of course, kicked the rumor mill into overdrive. But now that we're hearing reports that the first big table read for Star Wars: Episode VII is going down in London this week (check out the Tweet below, for proof!), Abrams is finally going to be forced to fess up about his cast. Stay close for more news as we get it!
Star Wars: Episode VII is set for a December 18, 2015 release.
