Ian Somerhalder is best known as the passionate, murderous vampire Damon Salvatore - but in real life it turns out he is something of a good guy.
Speaking on Chelsea Lately, the 35-year-old actor spoke about how he got involved with the upcoming Showtime documentary Years of Living Dangerously, which focuses on the terrifying consequences of man-made climate change.

But the show is more than a list of famous names:
it's a nine-episode docu-series [that] shows the world these insane things that are happening
The show is expecting to particularly focus on the harmful impact of global deforestation as well as the possibilities of green energy. Quite a long way from his bad boy character in The Vampire Diaries.
