Patrick Stewart and Seth MacFarlane are going to team up for the upcoming comedy project Blunt Talk.

The show will see Stewart - who very funnily played himself in the sitcom Extras (see the video below) - as the British newscaster Walter Blunt, who comes to America as a cable news anchor.

Starz are set to produce the show. Their CEO Chris Albrecht said:

In the character of Walter Blunt, Seth, Jonathan and Patrick have found the alchemy that makes a borderline alcoholic, mad-genius-Brit the man you want fighting in America’s corner.

Seth and Jonathan have struck the right balance between biting wit and outright absurdity in building this world, and we cannot wait for Patrick to breathe life into Walter.

And in case you wondered what Patrick Stewart would look like playing a strange and perverse comedy Brit, you can relive his role in Extras here:

MacFarlane is of course the person responsible for Family Guy, American Dad and Ted, (Stewart has provided voices for American Dad) while Johnathan Ames created the HBO comedy Bored to Death.

So do you think Blunt Talk will be the start of something funny, or have you gone off MAcFarlane since his so-so hosting of the Oscars?
