Hugh Jackman has been playing the character of Wolverine since 2000 when he first appeared in Bryan Singer's X-MEN! Jackman has appeared in 7 X-Men films as Wolverine including X-Men Days Of Future Past which releases later this month.

Jackman has become so iconic in the role that for him to leave would be a tragedy! In the past Jackman has hinted that his role as Wolverine is drawing to a close and recently he sounds more certain than ever.

We know that director James Mangold (The Wolverine) is working on a sequel to 2013's "The Wolverine". Jackman said the following about that film: "I'm excited to see what we can come up with, but I haven't signed on. I'm genuinely at that point where unless it's better than the last one, I'm not going to do it."

When asked what the story for the film might be, he replied: "I don't know yet. We're talking it through. I still am very ambitious for the character. And tonally I feel like we corrected the ship with the last one. But I feel we can still go further, in a way. If I did another one I'm 99.9% sure it would be the last, so that will inform what it is for me."

I think Hugh Jackman will come back for The Wolverine sequel. Him saying that he'll only come back if its better than the last one is him already trying to sell the film, because when he does sign on, everyone will think its going to be better than the last film, which is a very smart move.

I'm certain he'll make one last return as the character and then he'll be done. With the next Wolverine film, that will mean he's been playing the character for 17 years! That's a long time playing just one character and in my opinion, he deserves to leave. He has done extremely well as the character, I honestly can't imagine anyone else in the role. It will be a sad day when Jackman leaves the franchise but he needs to leave at some point. I am very grateful for the great performances that Jackman has given as Wolverine, he has just got better and better with every film.

I'm not sure whether or not he's signed on for X-MEN APOCALYPSE or not, I'm not sure whether Wolverine will even be included in that film, I guess we'll see soon enough.

What do you guys think about Hugh Jackman leaving the X-Men franchise?
