J.J. Abrams might be ruling the cinematic world at the moment, but it looks like he's having less luck on the small screen. Fox has just announced that Abrams' sci-fi cop show, Almost Human, will not be renewed for a second season.
Almost Human should have been a sure-fire success. It was helmed by Abrams, co-created by Fringe creator J.H. Wyman, and starred Dredd and The Lord of the Rings star Karl Urban. However, despite racking in an impressive 9.1 million viewers for its November premiere, its ratings consistently dropped to an average of 5.63 million by the time of its March finale.
Prior to its release, Almost Human was being hailed as perhaps the next big series on television. Instead it came and went without so much as a murmur. I doubt many people will be disappointed to see it go, although a post-cancellation resurgence à la Firefly isn't completely impossible. After all, Fox are known for cancelling great shows prematurely.
What do you think? Are you disappointed to see Almost Human axed?
