Disney has just dropped the new Star Wars: Rebels trailer which will fill in the gaps between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope by showing the origins of the rebellion.

Check out the trailer below:

It is rumored that this series will introduce the character Mara Jade who, in the expanded universe becomes Luke Skywalker's wife. If this were the case then we could potentially see Mara in Episode VII with Rebels being used as her back story. This would certainly seem to fit in with the new plans to include all new Star Wars stories in one cohesive universe.

Before now, there was an expanded universe where Han or Luke or any one of the characters could go off and have their own adventures or spin-offs, in books, games and TV. For the foreseeable future however, all official Star Wars books, TV series, games and movies will follow the same umbrella story. This means that essentially all new stories have to be created with respect to the rest of the Star Wars universe, they all have to make sense and work together with each other as now one story can potentially affect another.

So, do you think it is good to keep all Star Wars stories in the same world or will this prevent the universe from expanding in new ways?
