A new comedy, by Max Landis (Chronicle), has just found its two leads in the form of Sam Rockwell and Anna Kendrick. The film follows a woman, Kendrick, who has had a long line of bad relationships but suddenly finds Mr. Right, Rockwell, only to discover he is an ex hit-man on the run.
When 'Rom-com' and 'Hitman' are put in the same sentence, Grosse Point Blank immediately comes to mind. The synopsis of this new movie Mr. Right does sound very, very similar. Though that's not necessarily a bad thing. Armed with the comedic chops, both physical and verbal, of Mr. Sam (17%) Rockwell, the film could be quite successful. Anna Kendrick who has played a series of uptight roles in the past seems like a great pairing for the, usually, quite loose Rockwell.
Though what both of these actors also possess, is the ability to go to darker places as seen in Up in the Air and Moon with Kendrick and Rockwell respectively.
I expect a throwback to a good old Saturday night action movie, for which Shane Black wrote the template all those years ago; here's hoping anyway...
A release date has not yet been announced.
So what makes a good Saturday night action movie?
