The legendary horror director behind Hellraiser, Candyman and Midnight Meat Train has penned a brand new movie and he has the backing of Queen Circe to boot!
[Game of Thrones](series:201531)' Lena Headey has been cast in the lead role for the upcoming horror movie, Jaqueline Ess. This Clive Barker penned creepshow will be Jovanka Vuckovic's feature directorial debut, but she has plenty of horror experience under her belt.
The Canadian writer and film maker has been listed as one of the 10 most influential women in horror and won critical acclaim for her short movie, The Guest. Vuckovic earned her stripes during a 5 year stint as a visual effects artist along with being the driving force behind horror publication Rue Morgue Magazine for over six years.
Needless to say, there will be no objectified, simpering violets here. Vuckovic is a staunch supporter of strong female characters in horror as opposed to your run of the mill 'scream queens', making Headey an obvious choice for the lead.
Needless to say, Barker thoroughly supports the choice. The horror legend said;
Lena Headey is a marvelous performer with an incredible presence. As far as I'm concerned, there is no better choice of actress for the role of Jacqueline. Her beauty and authority will carry the day
There is no official synopsis for the movie just yet, but Arrow in the Head states that it is;
The story of a woman who, in her thirst for change, achieves the ability to transform people’s bodies at will
The eager bookworms among us have a chance to get ahead of the game, Jaqueline Ess will be adapted from a Barker short in his Books of Blood anthology.
Are you excited to see Lena Headey take the lead in Jaqueline Ess?
Will Jaqueline Ess surpass Clive Barker's other horror masterpieces?
