For the past several years I have been working on my own treatment for a Mighty Morphin [Power Rangers](movie:1408875) Reboot. Today it seems all fan wishes come true: Haim Saban, creator of the Power Rangers and Lionsgate have paired up with the intent of rebooting the franchise, and to me, this should have happened years ago! Below is a trilogy of films as I have envisioned it as well as the cast needed!
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
Green Ranger/ Tommy
The Hot headed, quick decision maker.
Red Ranger/ Jason
The Rational leader looking out for the best of the team and the world.
Pink Ranger/ Kimberly
The goody two shoes, do-no-wrong member of the team.
Yellow Ranger/ Trini
The troubled youth looking to take out some of her anger through her badass training.
Black Ranger/ Zack
The guy who never takes anything seriously, and loves to consider himself a superhero.
Blue Ranger/ Billy
The modern day Robin-Hood hacker who uses his computer abilities to help out the less fortunate.
The three films should follow as such:
1st Movie: Origin story. Zordon, original ranger, has been locked in a timeless battle with an evil Lord Zedd. In a last ditch effort he tries to trap Zedd, and when he is wounded, and dying, he searches for someone to inherit the power. When he discovers humans, he realizes that no one man can control and wield so much, so he has Alpha 5 (his ship) split his power coin (the source of his power) into 6 equal parts. Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Black, Pink. Then Zordon puts himself in a cryo chamber aboard Alpha 5, which possesses his likeness in an AI. The Rangers are chosen from Earth, but while they are training, an evil Witch and servant of Zedd, is bearing down on Zordon. She arrives and corrupts an arrogant Tommy and forces him to attack the others. In the end, Tommy and the Witch's evil army attack the Rangers and Zordon in Angel Grove. The Rangers defeat the army and subdue the Green ranger by finally working together.
After Credits Scene: Zordon Offers Tommy a chance to possess the White Power Medallion and train individually to become the White Ranger.
2nd Movie: Over the course of the film, since they were never able to finish their training, Zordon will train the Rangers and help them to control powerful machines he calls the Zords. So they begin their training again. Meanwhile, we cut to Tommy, who is hiking in the wilderness. A place Zordon has sent him we assume its a sort of spirit journey- we find out it is not on Earth but a distant planet that he has been sent to to track the movements of Rita. Tommy witnesses her unlock the ancient evil army of Goldar, in her time of desperate need, she has turned to a wild card to find and destroy Zordon so that we can unlock Zedd from his staute-esque imprisonment. So Goldar is unleashed and they find tommy spying on them, and capture him, yet again. After torturing him, (The Witch casts a sort of spell) he gives up the location of Zordon's moon base where the others are training. Tommy escapes as the armies of Rita and Goldar arrive at the moon base. Animosity toward Tommy, for seemingly betraying them twice. Without the White ranger, the other Rangers go out to face the armies on an open field in front of the moon base, just when both Goldar's and the witch's armies have started towards them, out of the ground the Megazord, erupts and stops them all in their tracks. It breaks apart into 6 equal machines, each slightly different from the next. Tommy emerges from the one that was the torso, and tells them he'll do anything he can to gain their trust. They each climb in their machines and fight the two massing armies.
After Credits Scene: The Witch unleashes two more villains to keep Zordon occupied while she regroups.
3rd Movie: Not so much ironed out as the others, but the general concept is that the team is transported to a far off planet, where the Witch has set up a gauntlet of sorts for them to get back to Earth. Meanwhile, she kidnaps Zordon and releases Zedd and the two of them unleash their full fury on Angel Grove and the world. She also puts a spell on the Zords and the rangers, once they make it back to Earth have to not only take on Zedd's armies, but their own Zords. In the end, they use the power they possess to destroy Zedd forever, and the Rangers return to their "normal" lives.
What do you guys think? Could this be an effective trilogy? Sound off below or tweet me @zgriffin22.
