Harley Quinn in one of the strangest characters in the entire DC universe.
Even if you forget the fact that she began life in Batman: The Animated Series because the show's writers thought that it would be too weird to have the Joker jump out of a cake and needed someone else to do it - Harley Quinn is a pretty unique character.
She is a trained psychotherapist with a Brooklyn accent who falls in love with the Joker when she is working to cure him, and subsequently loses her own mind and begins to wear a harlequin's outfit.
However, no matter how strange, her rise since she first appeared has been remarkable, becoming a staple of the latest Batman: Arkham video games and animated series - which is arguably where the franchise is most interesting and experimental, away from the hyper-attention of the movies.

But could Harley Quinn make it on the big screen, either on her own (a Harley Quinn/Joker origin movie would surely do well) or as part of the [Batman vs. Superman](movie:711870) follow up, the Ben Affleck led Batman reboot?
Well if she was to get a movie, there is one thing above all others it will be crucial to get right: who should play her?
Take a look at a few options below:
1. Michelle Rodriguez
The Fast & Furious star might not immediately seem the right choice for the blond haired Quinn, but she wants to get into superhero movies - and she has the required toughness, having been described as "arguably the most iconic actress in the action genre".
2. Cassidy Alexa
Harley Quinn has in fact appeared in a live action role fairly recently, in an episode of hit the CW show [Arrow](series:720988) . And she was played there by Cassidy Alexa.
And Alexa could seem like the perfect choice - until you realize that her voice was not used for the appearance in Arrow, where the creators of the show decided instead to stick with that of Tara Strong, who was the voice of Harley Quinn in the video game Batman: Arkham City.
3. Shailene Woodley
This one might seem to come from left field somewhat, but after having all her scenes cut from [The Amazing Spider-Man 2](movie:508593) as Mary Jane Watson, perhaps Shailene Woodley might want to spend some time on the other side of the superhero divide. And playing Harley Quinn - the Joker's on off girlfriend, rather than Spider-Man's - would certainly give her the opportunity to show a side of herself that her potential role in [The Amazing Spider-Man 3](movie:671279) would not.
So which of these three actresses would you most like to take on the role of the demented psychotherapist Harley Quinn? Write in with your thoughts below the line!
