A recent announcement by DC Comics has revealed that, following [Justice League](movie:401267) (2017), they have nine films planned and ready to eventually be released. There are obvious choices as to what some of them may be, but what are the ones that you'd want to see the most? There was one that stood above the rest for me, although I want to see another Green Lantern film, and I absolutely can't wait for the Batman reboot, this is the one I want to see...

Shazam!

Already confirmed by DC, with rumors that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be attached in an unnamed role, the story of Captain Marvel/Shazam is my absolute favorite choice for a post-JLA film.

When Billy Batson was twelve years old, he was chosen by an ancient wizard named Shazam to be Earth's champion mortal in the fight against evil. When Billy says the word "Shazam!", he's struck by a lightning bolt and is transformed into an adult hero with the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury. Originally discontinued for allegedly being a copy of Superman, Captain Marvel has actually gone toe-to-toe with the Man of Steel before, as magic is Superman's second weakness (behind Kryptonite, of course).

DC has confirmed that the movie is in the works, but that Capt. Marvel will be referred to as Shazam, the same name as the wizard who gave him his powers. Rumors have floated around the Dwayne Johnson could be Shazam's enemy, Black Adam, another being who was given the same powers as Captain Marvel, but used them for his own gain. Additional rumors have said that he might also be the hero himself that Billy Batson turns into when he literally speaks the magic word. Personally, I'd love to see him as Black Adam, so he can be a villain again! Here are my choices for the heroes' two personalities:

Dakota Goyo as Billy Batson

Known best for his role in Real Steel (2011), opposite Hugh Jackman, and even in his small role as a young Thor in its' first installment, Goyo has been a very prominent child actor for the past few years, and I could definitely see him being Billy Batson.

Dustin Clare as Captain Marvel/Shazam

Though he's a relatively unknown actor, his prominent role in the Starz series Spartacus, gained him a very immense fan base outside of Australia, and he was a personal favorite fighter of mine ever since his character, Gannicus, was introduced as the champion gladiator in the prequel season, Gods of the Arena. Though he was mainly selfish in his gladiatorial role, he rose to the occasion, becoming a hero. I'd love to see him on the big screens in America as a superhero, and this is my pick for that.

Omar Sharif as Shazam

Actually fitting Shazam's origins by being from Egypt, Sharif is known best for his roles in classics such as Lawrence of Arabia (1962) and Doctor Zhivago (1965). Always boasting a powerful voice and great acting skills, my only regret is that he wouldn't be in the movie enough, as Shazam is only there long enough to pass his powers on to Billy, before dying. But at least we'd get a great performance before he goes.
