Robert Pattinson is set to appear for a second time this year (following Jerome Fontana's Map to the Stars), here in David Michod's long awaited follow-up to 2010's Animal Kingdom. He stars alongside Guy Pearce in the gritty, Aussie outback Western, The Rover.

If you're a big fan of R-Pattz playing mopy vampire Edward Cullen in a "girl meets vampire. Girl loves vampire. Girl and vampire go to the Prom" kinda way, then I highly doubt that The Rover is going to be for you...

In other words, The Rover looks like it's going to be pretty f*cking cool. Take a look at these new pictures which just surfaced in time for Cannes, and see what you think:

Michod post-apocalyptic The Rover chronicles the story of a fallen man, Eric (Guy Pearce), who escapes to the desert. When gang members steal his car, Eric forces the injured Rey (Robert Pattinson), to find his partners in crime in an epic pursuit across the desolate Australian outback.

I truly believe the buzz is justified and this will be a turning point in Pattinson's career. What about you? Drop your comments below!

The post-apocalyptic world of The Rover unfolds in theaters on June 20, 2014.
