A Monster Calls has found its monster in Liam Neeson (Schindler's List, Taken/Taken 2). The Irish actor and total goddamn badass has been cast in the fantasy film as the titular character. He joins previously cast Felicity Jones (The Diary of Anne Frank, [The Amazing Spider-Man 2](movie:508593)).

A fantasy role might be some familiar work for Neeson, who has previously starred in or voiced in films such as Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, The Chronicles of Narnia and Clash of the Titans.

Written by Patrick Ness and conceived from the ideas of Siobhan Dowd, A Monster Calls centers around a young boy who seeks solace in the nightly stories of a monster to ease the pain of being bullied and having a dying mother.

The film, directed by Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage, The Impossible) and written by Ness himself, is set for release by Focus Features on October 14th, 2016.
