Earlier this week, we saw the first teaser poster for Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, now we have the first official image of Matthew McConaughey in the upcoming sci-fi mind-bender. The image shows McConaughey with youngsters Mackenzie Foy and Timothee Chalamet:
After Dallas Buyers Club and True Detective, McConaughey is clearly on a roll at the moment. He was excellent in Contact in the late 90s, so sci-fi definitely isn't outside of the actor's skill set.
Interstellar concerns a group of space explorers who pass through a wormhole leading to an epic space adventure, featuring time travel and alternate dimensions. In Nolan's first movie since finishing his Batman trilogy with The Dark Knight Rises, McConaughey plays the leader of a group of these explorers. As out there as the plot might sound, the storyline was actually developed with the help of theoretical physicist Kip Thorne. Anyway, with the mind-bending-dreamathon Inception already under his belt, I'm pretty certain Nolan can produce an equally complex and twisted space story.
As well as McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Mackenzie Foy, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Wes Bentley and Casey Affleck are all joining Nolan's Interstellar's, err, stellar cast. Also not to be scoffed at is Hans Zimmer's upcoming Interstellar score. Zimmer's been penning the music for Nolan's big blockbuster flicks ever since we can remember, having worked on Inception, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises.
