When I think of angels, my thoughts stray more toward the frantic Facebook image sharing of my mother than badass winged warriors. Thankfully, the SyFy wants to obliterate the twee, old-lady mysticism that surrounds angels and give us something altogether more thrilling.

This summer, Heaven will raise Hell in [Dominion](series:1065855), but will it raise any ratings? Some moments in the trailers might be a bit heavy handed, but SyFy has certainly done everything it can when it comes to timing. The rabid fans of the supernatural in [The Vampire Diaries](series:200853) camp will be having withdrawal symptoms from season 5, so the likelihood of some dipping their toe into the SyFy water is high.

The official synopsis from SyFy reads;

Dominion is an epic supernatural drama set in the near future. Specifically, 25 years after β€œThe Extinction War,” when an army of lower angels, assembled by the archangel Gabriel, waged war against mankind. The archangel Michael, turning against his own kind, chose to side with humanity. Rising out of the ashes of this long battle are newly fortified cities which protect human survivors. At the center of the series is the city of Vega, a glistening empire that has formed from the ruins of what was once Las Vegas.

I really can't decide what to think of this series without seeing more, on one hand it seems inventive and action packed, but some of the early material has almost made me spray my screen with coffee. The thought of any sort of glistening empire pulling itself out of the bloated, alcoholic, neon corpse of Las Vegas was one of those moments.

Dominion is based on the 2010 film Legion and it will debut June 19 at 9/8c on the Syfy channel

Will you be watching Dominion, or does it just look like more supernatural TV scurf?
