NBC has finally, and decisively, answered our questions regarding cult favorite Community's sixth season. The show has been cancelled after its fifth season. While the news wasn't a huge surprise to anyone who has been paying attention - the show's rating have been steadily declining for years - it still strikes a huge blow to a passionate and borderline obsessive viewership.
However, not all hope is lost. The Community's producers, Sony Pictures TV, will try to sell it to a different service. Given the ferocity of the show's loyal fans, this could be a significant gain for a smaller network. Perhaps Hulu, which owns the digital rights to the show, will take a page out of Netflix's book (e.g. Arrested Development rebirth) and take the sixth season into their own hands. A girl can dream, right?
