After finding a way to make a movie about cancer pretty funny with 50/50, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Seth Rogen, and Jonathan Levine decided they wanted to get back together for a Christmas movie. While the trio's reunion is reason enough to keep this film on the radar, it's now become even more promising with the addition of Anthony Mackie to the cast.

Yes, The Falcon himself - last seen in Captain America: The Winter Soldier - is reportedly in negotiations to team up with the comedy duo for a currently untitled Christmas movie.

Three old childhood friends reunite on the 24th of December to recreate their annual tradition of going out in New York City the day before Christmas. But with the friends being all grown up - and with all different ideas of what constitutes as a fun-filled evening - will they be able to recreate the Christmas magic of their youth?

Although the trade does not specify exactly which role Mackie will play, it seems reasonable to assume he's playing the third friend...

Sony acquired the untitled project earlier this year after a heated bidding war. The studio has already released This Is the End, which became a massive hit, and something tells me that this is the kind of goofball comedy we'll be dealing with. Either way, Mackie seems like a solid choice for the third best friend as he has been hitting heights in recent years with great performances in The Hurt Locker and Pain & Gain.

No word on a release date for this one, but I'd bet my money on December 2015.
