Otto Octavius returns as Superior Spider-Man!
Those of you who were disheartened to hear the end of Otto Octavius' reign as Spider-Man last month will be glad to know that he'll be getting two more issues as "The Superior Spider-Man". For how long, we know not, but needless to say we are excited for the return!
Although it first seemed that Octavius had died, giving Peter Parker back control of his body, the series wrote by Dan Slott with artwork by Ryan Stegman, Humberto Ramos, and Giuseppe Camuncoli, will return for issues #32 and #33 documenting the events following Otto vanishing in a flash of temporal energy in Superior Spider-Man #19.
Although Otto holds no recollections of these events, it effectively placed him in a parallel universe. The nine hours that he was missing disappeared from his own mind, and the events just before and after, including Spider-Man 2099 being stranded in the past, became the more important story. With the Spider-Verse event coming up (the massive event coming to Amazing Spider-Man this fall), editor Nick Lowe has stated that the issues will “kick off the edge of Spider-Verse,” which will see virtually every incarnation of Spider-Man ever show up in its pages.
The two-issue story is expected to be released in August and September this year. It will follow Otto Octavius, the Superior Spider-Man in the year 2099, who wants to merely find a way back to his own time - but “a Peter Parker Spider-Man, a very different one from the one we know stands in his way, says Gage.
