As you all know, [The Amazing Spider-Man 2](movie:508593) hit theaters about 2 weeks ago. Now, I had to be there on the day it opened, it's Spider-Man for crying out loud. Before I saw it, critics were saying that it "wasn't worth watching" and that "it's too long." Now with Spider-Man being one of my favorite superheroes, I didn't want to listen. I went in to the movies excited and left satisfied.

Now, the film starts off with in the past with Peter's parents, Richard and Mary, leaving their son to Uncle Ben and Aunt May. Richard records a video message, saying that OsCorp was going to use his research for biological weapons, so he and his wife had to disappear. They aboard a private jet hijacked by a man sent to assassinate Richard. With the pilot dead the plane crashes, killing Richard and Mary both. In present day, Peter continues to fight crime as Spider-Man. He is chasing down Aleksei Sytsevich (who later becomes Rhino) who is driving a truckload of plutonium vials. During the chase, he rescues OsCorp employee Max Dillon. Later, Peter meets up with Gwen at their high school graduation. There, he sees a vision of her father, Captain George Stacy who was killed by the Lizard in the previous film, reminding him to "leave Gwen out of it." He tells Gwen about this later that night, but Gwen decides to end their relationship.

Peter's childhood best friend, Harry Osborn, comes to see his terminally ill father, CEO of OsCorp Norman Osborn. Norman explains to Harry that his disease is hereditary and that Harry is at the age where it first develops. He then gives Harry a device that he claims contains his life's work. The next day, Norman dies and Harry is appointed new CEO of OsCorp. Thinking Spider-Man is his friend, Max Dillon idolizes Spider-Man. While work with maintenance at OsCorp, he loses his balance and falls into a tank filled with genetically modified electric eels. They attack him, mutating him and turning him into a living electric generator. Meanwhile, Peter tries to keep a friendship with Gwen, but she tells him that she may move to England for school. Before they have time to talk about it, Max wanders into Times Square and causes a blackout by accident. Spider-Man arrives and attempts to calm him down, but police fire at Max, causing him to attack Spider-Man. Spider-Man stops him eventually, and Max is taken to Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane.

The first signs of Harry's illness surface, and he uses the device given to him by Norman Osborn to find out that Spider-Man's blood could save him. He asks Peter for help to find Spider-Man, but Peter refuses, worried about what effects it might have on Harry. The board members of OsCorp frame Harry for covering up Max's accident, and he is removed as CEO. His assistant, Felicia, informs him that there is equipment somewhere hidden in OsCorp that could help him. He goes to Ravencroft to seek help from Max (now Electro). Electro helps Harry get back into OsCorp, Harry gives Electro access to OsCorp's power grid. Harry gets in to OsCorp and finds a suit or armor, along with venom from the genetically altered spiders. Instead of curing him, it transforms him into a goblin-like creature.

Peter manages to locate his fathers video message in a secret lab in an abandoned subway station. He later gets a voicemail from Gwen with her saying that she is headed to England earlier than expected. He manages to catch her and he professes his love for her, and they agree to go to England together. Electro causes another blackout, and Peter heads off to fight him with Gwen following. Together, they overload Electro's body, killing him. Afterward, the transformed Harry (now Green Goblin) arrives on his Goblin Glider. After seeing Gwen, he deduces Spider-Man's true identity and after vowing revenge upon him for being refused the blood transfusion, he kidnaps Gwen. Spider-Man battles Green Goblin at a clock tower and subdues Harry. But despite Spider-Man's best efforts to save her, Gwen is sent falling to her death by the collapsing gears. Keep in mind, this is almost exactly how Gwen died in the comics.

Peter is absent from being Spider-Man for the next five months and often visits Gwen's grave. Harry was sent to Ravencroft Institute and is healing from his illness, claiming that "it comes and goes." He has a conversation with his assisstant Gustav Fiers, talking about putting together a team to defeat Spider-Man, telling Gustav to "keep it small." (*cough cough Sinister Six cough cough*). You then see Gustav walking in a hallway, where you can see Doc Ock's tentacles, Vulture's wings, and Rhino's suit. He then equips Aleksei Sytsevich with the Rhino suit, and he starts to rampage through Manhattan. After listening to Gwen's graduation speech, Peter is compelled to continue fighting crime as Spider-Man.

I can say that I absolutely loved this film, and for those who haven't seen it, I know you will. But let's rewind a bit. The Sinister Six. It's almost guaranteed that we'll be seeing them in The Amazing Spider-Man 3 coming in 2016. It's certain we will see Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus, Vulture, and Rhino in that villainous team-up. But what about the other two? Electro is a little out of the question considering he was killed off. Bummer. But we might also see Black Cat a.k.a Felicia Hardy (Harry's assistants name was Felicia!).
