Game of Thrones isn't known for shying away from controversial topics, especially when it comes to incest. Of course, we all know that the actors aren't really related so it's not so bad, but apparently the Game of Thrones producers did, at one point, want to get a little bit too close to the real thing.
In a recent Reddit AMA, singer Lily Allen, the sister of Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy), revealed the Game of Thrones producers did want her for a cameo in which she would play Theon's sister - a sister whom he promptly feels up upon arriving on the Iron Isles. She explained:
I've been asked to do a Game of Thrones cameo, they asked me if I'd be interested in playing Theon's sister, and I felt uncomfortable because I would have had to go on a horse and he would have touched me up and shit. Once they told me what was entailed, I said no thanks. I would be open to doing a musical cameo like Sigur Ros, though.
I can kind of understand her aversion to it, I mean it would certainly have been pretty darn awkward when the Allen family got together to watch the episode.
What is a bit interesting, however, is that the role of Yara (or Asha as she's known in the books) might have originally been perceived as only a small role - since Lily Allen refers to it as a 'cameo'. Furthermore, Lily Allen isn't a seasoned actress and I can't imagine they would have cast her as a season regular. Of course, she could also have just been mistaken.
What do you think? Would you have actually liked to see Lily Allen cast in Game of Thrones?
