Fans of superheroes hell bent on destroying the surface world rejoice - it looks like we may be about to see a new Marvel superhero on the big screen: Namor: The Sub-Mariner.

Universal Pictures revealed this week that they've scheduled a major - and secret - tentpole film for November 4th, 2016, attaching the tease that it's "new and not a sequel or remake, though it may be based on underlying intellectual property"

As it so happens, Universal happen to hold the rights to Namor: The Submariner, one of Marvel's oldest and most beloved characters - and long time frenemy of the Fantastic Four - so when Latino-Review recently reached out to the studio for confirmation on their hunch, and were met with a strong 'no comment', suspicions were raised.

All of which means the possibility of seeing the wing-footed anti-hero remains just that - a possibility - but one that is a lot more likely than it seemed a few days ago.

What do you guys think? Would Namor be a good fit for the big screen? Let me know below!

Will Namor work well on the big screen?
